Paul Balmer and his family have had built the most unique narrowboat.. diesel and electric combined power for the engine.  Today they are off for a weeks maiden cruise along the Southern Oxford Canal.  It has been extremely interesting reading his blog over the year, and perhaps this is the narrowboat for the future what with the costs of diesel about to go sky high.  So from ‘the build of Waterways Routes’ to the travel blog.

I know Paul has purchased a mobile internet connection, so hopefully this week he will try waterway blogging.. he will find the speed of that more in keeping with the speed he travels along the Oxford Canal, but with a huge difference from normal boating, he will be travelling along in almost complete silence except for the sound of water around the prop.. wonderful!
