Cruising and walking again as we leave Gailey
Gailey to Calf Heath, Staffs & Worcs Canal, 2 miles 0 locks
I was really tired yesterday, so this morning I had decided to stay put in bed for as long as possible this morning to try to get some extra sleep. I am not an early to bed person, so it would have been useless for me to go to bed early, I wouldn’t have gone to sleep. I can’t go to sleep during the day either, I wake up feeling awful so I try not to drop off.
It was half nine when I woke, Vic had been tiptoeing around and Lucy and Meg were being very good waiting for me to waken for their morning walk.. After breakfast we ran the washing machine to check that the new inverter would behave before pulling the pins and saying goodbye to those who had come to our aid at JD Boats.
We only intended to do a couple of miles today, but we wanted to run the engine for a long time to make sure the batteries were fully charged so I could reset my battery monitor to 100% charge. Engine was run for 5 hours just to make sure.
We settled just short of Calf Heath Marina..

It was no good, I just had to go out walking. Anyway my poorly toe was feeling a lot better, so I downed a couple of paracetamol (the doc suggested I did this if I wanted to go out walking) and armed with my GPA and maps set off to find 7 geocaches in this area.
I had a great afternoon.. not walking too fast, and in my wellies because I can’t get my walking boots on at the moment, I was hardly hobbling hooray!
There were some interesting geocaches today, this is just a rock seemingly?..

Ah but no, turn it over and it has a sliding bottom, it’s a geocache with a log book inside to sign…

Another very interesting ‘container’ today was a frog.. yep a frog hidden in a tree..

I have put him on the wall for the photo, but turn him over and he contains a log book. Again I signed the book and carefully put him back for the next person to find.
I’m not going to say where these geocaches are, but as a clue, you know where we are moored!
Well the evenings are drawing out.. as I write this blog it is 5.35pm, and it is still light out there. I just heard on the radio that it might be -10 degrees in some places tonight.. brrrrrr. I wonder if we will be iced in by the morning..
