A moody morning as I get itchy feet at Market Drayton

Market Drayton to Adderley, Shropshire Union Canal, 3.5 miles 5 locks

I had a lot of paperwork to do this morning.. end of the month I hate, lots of paper flying around No Problem.. printer out and on duty and the lure of cruising the canal makes me irritable.  Vic usually disappears on mornings like this.. ‘tis best he is out of the way.

Jenny Barua got in touch again from British Waterways.. she had read last night’s blog and did some investigating as to why my licence discs have taken so long to process and get to me.  She said that my licence was dealt with in January after the Christmas break, but for some reason had not gone out until early February, now it seems Royal Mail have not delivered.. Duplicates on the way she says.. Thanks Jenny!

Oh dear, British Waterways reading my blog.. good job I don’t overstay anywhere I would be very quickly nabbed for sure!..

I reported the broken water tap at Market Drayton while I was on the phone to Jenny, and after filling from the other tap available we pulled the pins at last this morning around 11.30 reaching the top of the Adderley flight of locks in just under an hour.  There are a lot of boats moored along the canal in this area, although throughout the whole day we did not meet another moving boat.

I was back to being happy again.. maybe I just got out of bed the wrong side this morning, anyway I am a woman, I am allowed one day every now and again to be bitchy!

It was a doddle coming down the flight, and the five locks took just 40 minutes although all of them were against us and had to be filled before we could enter them.. I like the mooring just below the locks…

Vic needed to change the oil and give the engine a good checkover, all was well down below..

At least with a cruiser stern it is easy to get to the engine.. heh, even easier when the mechanic is a little person too, bless him!

Kevin left a couple of comments to say that the waterscape image on the location page is not working properly for him.  So for now I have changed it to an image instead of the iframe that was there.  I think John Sinclair is quite right in an email to me that to view that page you need adobe flash player.. but the waterscape software is not working with new updated adobe version 10.  That is why some of you are not seeing the map.. check out here if it is working for you… click this linky.

Thought you might like this pic.. Lucy is never one to show off in front of a camera.. but here she doesn’t notice the camera while her interest is in a couple of rabbits on the far side of the canal!..

Off to the Shroppie Fly tomorrow at Audlem.. they have a live band on as usual on a Saturday.. Can’t wait, just hope they have some Snicklifter beer to make a great night out even better!
