Last diesel fill up at Little Ouse Moorings
Ship Inn at Brandon Creek to Denver via Little Ouse, River Great Ouse, 10 miles 0 locks
Half a mile was too far to reverse down the Little Ouse to get to the diesel this morning, but quite a long way upstream to find a place to turn.. But at 75p a litre it was worth the three mile return trip to a place wide enough to wind (turn).. We needed a bit too 131 litres. No Problem always uses a bit more diesel on the rivers, I think I push the throttle a little further forward than on the canals!

Ernie of Little Ouse Moorings was around today looking after the boats providing them with diesel, gas and coal in this part of East Anglia. For sure the cheapest diesel on this system by a long way.. we won’t need any more until we get to Wheaton Aston on the Shropshire Union Canal.. usually the cheapest on the canal system, but I expect we will pay much less than we did today.. heh, remains to be seen!!
Passing one of the Environment Agency moorings on our way to Denver…

A standoff! I think this lot are trying to intimidate boaters not to stop here.. it is well patrolled and well used.. errrr well used as a goose convenience.. I think they win their case in keeping this one for themselves!!
We moored at lunchtime today, and one batch of jam was made from the plums that I had collected yesterday. I will have to wait to do the rest until I get some more sugar, but so far I have 6lbs of jam, and I still have two bags of plums left!
Our time tomorrow to go through Denver to the Middle Levels is 11am, although I guess I will be the last boat through because No Problem is too long to go into Salters Lode Lock on to the Middle Levels with the gates shut, so we need to wait for the tide to be equal to the Middle Levels before we can be let in there. If the tide is coming in, we may well have to wait quite a while half in the lock at Salters before Paul lets us through…
I was pleased to see that the winter stoppage at Wheaton Aston on the Shropshire Union Canal has been changed. British Waterways were going to be working on the embankment there the entire winter from beginning of November through to March, now they are only going to shut the canal after Christmas.. we are off to Norbury Junction you see, to party!
