Meg’s in trouble and British Waterways baffles me
Paxton to Brampton, River Great Ouse, 4.75 miles 2 locks
We promised ourselves a night out tonight at Brampton Mill. Every time we have visited we have had a really scrumptious meal, and the beer is excellent too, lets hope nothing is going to spoil that tonight..
Pins pulled this morning on this lovely mooring…

I wonder how long it will be ‘till we return, maybe not next year.. We have spent the last four summers over in East Anglia and enjoyed each and every one, although this year due to the refit of No Problem in the spring we have not spent as much time cruising the rivers as we would have liked.. Might do something different next year before perhaps returning in 2011.. But that is a long way off!!
Meg has managed to completely rip out one of her claws.. gawd knows how she did that, seems she was just ambling along inside NP and suddenly started to squeal.. it was almost as if she caught it on the mat half way down the boat, but I can’t find it.. blood everywhere.. ouch!!

So it will be gentle walks for her for a while.. I’ll need to keep a good eye on it over the next week to make sure it doesn’t get infected. We are on a good part of the river at the moment with larger towns frequently along our cruising route in case I have to get her to the vet a bit bq.
Buckden Marina is huge, and all around it has holiday homes.. posh ones look…

I did take a stroll around it last year, and some of the log cabins are really big, all with their own mooring, dunno if you can use them all the year round though..
Must show you this.. click on the link here to open in a different window…
“Britain’s canals and rivers enjoy a renaissance. However, British Waterways (BW) faces considerable economic challenges. Consequently embarking on forward thinking strategies, including a sustainable future.”
I have never read such a load of goggle de gook as that for a long time.. does that translate to “British Waterways have bought a new computer?”
I read it twice and still was baffled by the way it was written!!
Talking of British Waterways, I see NABO, the National Association of Boat Owners have a new survey that they would like boaters to take part in.. the link to that is here, and the password you need is Navigation09. Don’t copy and paste that, it won’t work, you will need to type it in.
I suppose surveys do show peoples opinions, but I don’t know that this one will generate any feel good about BW right now. The Shebdon Embankment on the Shropshire Union Canal sprung a leak about three weeks ago.. the contractors have today come up with a plan to block the leak and hope to start shortly on the job.. and it is going to take until the end of October to do… Jeeeeeez..
