A Christmas feeling aboard No Problem
Goldstone to Knighton, Shropshire Union Canal, 2.5 miles 0 locks
Delicious Sunday lunch out at The Wharf Inn by the bridge at Goldstone. It was a bit noisy with a huge table full of push bikers from the Nantwich Cycle Club.. but it is Christmas time and they were having fun. I declined the treacle tart.. blimey I have put on a few pounds with being static for a while. I must lose those before Christmas or I won’t be able to stuff myself full of goodies..
Back aboard up went the decs..
You can see a full cratch full of logs again. It sure does save on coal to have a good stash. We have only used three bags of coal since we put some on the roof at Tarry’s at Nether Heyford the back end of September!
Moving up to the bridge this morning from our moorings further back, we picked up a small Tesco delivery just to to up milk, bread and some essentials before moving on to one of my favourite moorings at Knighton. It is always so very quiet here, and today was no exception, you can hear a pin drop..
We were lucky at Fox’s Bridge as they are doing some major works there to stop yet another leak on an embankment. We thought we would have to wait until the half hour lunch break to get through, but there was no work being done although there were plenty of men around. Maybe one of the machines had broken. Far too many men standing about doing sod all!
Our newly acquired heater from ebay has turned out to be fantastic..
That along with our pram canopy and plenty of hot cuppas has made our cruising so much more pleasant on these icy days.. No cold bathroom for a shower now either!
