Retirement with No Problem

It’s not the Shropshire Union Canal, it’s the River Shroppie that we cruise on!  We had no problem whizzing through Wheaton Aston embankment that is due to close in the New Year, the canal was actually flowing, so no ice to speak of…

Before that we stopped at the other end of Gnosall to visit the excellent butcher.. mooring was more of a problem with frozen ropes in a deadly coil..

Look how clear the canal is while everyone else is frozen in.. A treat for the birds beside the boat, but hey look a pigeon trying to work out how to get to the peanuts!..

Ha, he never worked out how in the end and wandered off, not by flying but by waddling along the towpath.. well he was really fat anyway!

So it is that time again when I take a break from this blog to spend time with family and friends over the festive period.  Let me wish all of you that read the blog a very Happy Christmas and New Year, I hope you all have a wonderful time.

I’ll be back blogging in the New Year when I shall have another New Year’s resolution.. oh as for this year’s, which you will see on the left of the main page, I did it even though on one Sunday I had to dive into a shop pick up a frozen roast beef dinner and put it in a microwave!!
