The convoy splits at Norbury and BW ask us to choose a new name

Norbury Junction to Gnosall, Shropshire Union Canal, 3 miles 0 locks

It had gone past me before I realised.. Debdale rescued from Tixall Wide where Adam’s cruise came to the end after meeting the ice age…

Norbury Junction, Shropshire Union Canal

A shared boat that we all know, a couple of the owners had gone to fetch her back to base so they can all start cruising again properly after a good service at the wharf.

No Problem had a bit of a tart up not long after.. we waited for two of the convoy to put water on and leave to travel north for a while before ambling down to water ourselves and wash one side of NP.. then about turn in the basin to wash the other side..

It won’t be long ‘till she is dirty again.. once it rains it will drain through the wood on the roof and make all those streaky marks again!

With Geoff and George steering their boats North, Ann and Chas joined us to travel South, a short trip to Gnosall today would do…

We have just 15 or so miles to go to Cut End, and we have over a week to do that before tackling the Wolvehampton Flight of 21 locks..

British Waterways is being changed into a Charitable Organisation in a couple of years, and we, the boaters, have been asked for our ideas as to what it should be called..

Firstly, it is important that any prospective name does ‘what it says on the tin’ i.e. it shows that the charity is about ‘waterways’ or ‘canals & rivers’. Secondly, the names should evoke a feeling amongst the wider public that waterways are a worthy ‘cause’ (and therefore include the terms ‘charity’ or ‘trust’

When you go to do the survey there are some names they have put forward that do not include ‘charity’ or ‘trust’.. Ho Hum!

I agree with Jim, and British Waterways Trust will be fine for me.. or British Waterways will be even better if they allow that without either of the c or t words..  I also agree with Adam who commented on Jim’s Blog..

Not to mention that keeping the same name (and logo) would save having to spend a fortune on new signs etc.

Mind you I really do like just BW, short and sweet.. Maffi’s idea for a name.

“National Canals and Rivers Trust” is on the list?.. Bloomin’ ‘eck they better not choose that one it will never fit on the licence disk!

The Waterscape link for the name game has become a circular link – looks like the survey’s closed. Judging by the email address mentioned when the survey was available, bwt@….., looks like BWT is already chosen!

I just checked Martin and it seems to be working OK for me, it took me to the survey page when I clicked on http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/YBGCVXF Maybe it was down for a while when you looked

    Ah – it’s browser specific – doesn’t work for Opera ;-)
