Omnibus blog from Marsworth
Moored Marsworth, Grand Union Canal
He came in from the front well deck, “I’ve done it!”.. “Great stuff” says I not really taking any note as I was deep in concentration on a project on the computer.. “Can you get out the hover”.. A bit annoyed at being disturbed I looked up to see this person I didn’t recognise.. whoosat?!
Of all the jobs Vic has done on this boat I have never ever seen such a sight.. “I think you need a bit of a shower!”.. Black Blue as the ace of spades.. he looked a bit like a panda.. the only bit of white was around his mouth and eyes.. (thank goodness my threats to wear face mask and goggles or else were good enough). Non slip paint over rust has taken four years to find out.. Nothing for it but to remove the lot… gosh what a mess.. But now sorted..
Today, Ah so much better..
Young lad Rob the carpenter at Marsworth is coming tomorrow to build me a bit of a table for the front well which will fold down in the winter so we can store our logs as usual, then it will all get painted blue.. Gosh are we busy or what!?
There is the new cooker in the galley finally trimmed out with some wood.. Looks good and posh dunnit? ![]()
Oh and the new fridge fits in a treat too..
Hey, only just fits in there.. we had to fit extra vents in the side and back as there was very little room above as you see.. not ideal this tiny gap, but our venting seems to have worked and there is very little running of the motor.. far less in fact than our last fated fridge..
Pics as promised Jaq! ![]()
Hope you are pleased with the finish Les around the cooker housing too!
Bus pass.. Yes.. New one arrived today.. A funny thing happened yesterday. You may or may not know that most bus passes expire tomorrow, the last day of March.. I happened to use mine yesterday for what I knew was the last time.. I got on the bus on my return from Tring, showed the driver the pass, and collected the ticket.. When I sat down I still had the pass in my hand and suddenly it snapped in half! I started chuckling.. people started looking.. Is that self destruction or what! ![]()
Gearbox.. No.. Oh do I have to talk about that? It didn’t arrive on the next day guaranteed delivery last Tuesday for our booked fitting tomorrow with the engineer.. seems it is lost somewhere.. ![]()

Wow! The galley looks wonderful Sue. It looks like it came that way from the boat builder. Very nice indeed.
Vic is amazing! Les told me he hopes to be in the same great shape as Vic when he’s in his 70′s.
Thank you for the pictures.

Diana,
Many thanks.. Please don’t mention the word gearbox..
Les,
Let him have a rest? Nah.. Whip came out this morning, and the front locker is now free of rust and another coat on the deck area as well!
I told you in the last comment not to mention that word!
Glad you approve of the trim though..
xx
Nessa,
Oh that was all of you then?
Jaq,
Glad you like it Jaq, I am sure Les will be in good shape when he is in his 70s.. Surely he won’t lose a body like that?!
