Winter Sun for us
Moored Kennet & Avon Canal
We got a brilliant deal aboard Oceana to cruise down through Spain, Morocco and the Canaries. We are off today.
The cruise we did in November was a bit soon after my father’s death so it wasn’t the most happiest time for me. I did enjoy though. We had a very quiet time not doing too much when we arrived at the ports. This time we have a few things planned.
It will pass a bit more of the winter away for us stuck here on the K&A and it won’t be too long after we come back that we will be making our way to the Thames and freedom!
I’ll do a quick blog each day on the ship, but you won’t be able to comment on that unless you sign in to P&O, so you could always leave a comment on this blog if you want to.
I should be able to see those once in a while at the ports, and maybe do the odd blog post or so too. Internet is dreadfully expensive on board, but I can use the P&O portal for free.

Dear Sue Amd Vic,
Hope you have a wonderful cruise. Your holiday sounds wonderful. Have you been to these places before? All the best, Mark

Thankyou Nick and Mark.
We have just set sail from Southampton, at least I won’t get sea sick and the captain says the Bay of Biscay is calm! Yes I have been to some of the places Mark, but never to Casablanca so I am looking forward to that.

I do try not to envy anyone but the thought of sun and warmth, how lovely

Hope you both have a great time…
Bogart’s supposed line from Casablanca. This is well-known as one of the most widely misquoted lines from films. The actual line in the film is ‘Play it, Sam’. Something approaching ‘Play it again, Sam’ is first said in the film by Ilsa Lund (Ingrid Bergman) in an exchange with the piano player ‘Sam’ (Dooley Wilson):
Ilsa: Play it once, Sam. For old times’ sake.
Sam: I don’t know what you mean, Miss Ilsa.
Ilsa: Play it, Sam. Play “As Time Goes By.”
Sam: Oh, I can’t remember it, Miss Ilsa. I’m a little rusty on it.
Ilsa: I’ll hum it for you. Da-dy-da-dy-da-dum, da-dy-da-dee-da-dum…
Ilsa: Sing it, Sam.
So does Sam=Vic & Ilsa=Sue
Trip Advisor says (in 2007) Rick’s Cafe. It’s near the port and nothing like the film set. Outrageous prices and poor service. IMHO, not worth the visit.
BTW will there be a WASSAT from your trip

Kate,
We went to your favourite island too!
